FAQs

IS VIZIONAIR CERTIFIED AND/OR LICENSED?

VizionAir has been granted a 333 FAA Exemption. We are staffed with professional FAA Licensed Pilots for safe & reliable operations.

WHAT GUIDELINES DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR DRONE OPERATIONS?

We must follow strict guidelines with the FAA. This includes paperwork and a set of standardized laws to practice safe and legal operations. We help you through the permitting process & handle all required FAA paperwork.

HOW HIGH CAN YOU FLY?

Our systems are capable of operating at very high altitudes, however for all operations our standard operating heights are kept to less than 120m (400ft) above ground level. If a specific job requires flying above this altitude, then contact us to discuss the specifics of your requirements.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Our pricing is very competitive, and given the unique situation for each project, we will determine the best possible price to achieve the desired end state. Please contact us to discuss your project. We can provide pricing on a day, week, or project rate.

HOW FAR AWAY CAN YOU FLY?

Our technology is capable of controlling the unmanned aerial vehicle systems out beyond visual range, however we operate within visual line of sight. The most dynamic images often have strong foreground elements which benefit from close proximity flight. To achieve this having a good line of sight to the UAV is essential.

WHAT CAMERAS OR PAYLOAD DO YOU USE?

At VizionAir we are using cutting edge multirotor technologies, which enable us to carry large payload and fly for long times. Our UAVs fly with, and other specialist payloads. We regularly fly or similar.

HOW EFFICIENT IS YOUR SURVEY?

Our data capture techniques are very efficient, we typically can survey an area of 10 hectares in 45-60 minutes of flight time. An aerial survey consists of planning the job, identification of any ground control points if required, capturing the aerial imagery, then back in office we use our specialist work stations to process the large data sets to generate the three dimensional site model.

HOW ACCURATE ARE YOUR SURVEY AND MODELLING RESULTS?

The results that we achieved are orders of magnitude more detailed than conventional surveys. With the combination of ground control points our digital surface models and digital terrain maps are highly accurate, for survey work, modeling, and project visualization.

HOW DOES AERIAL INSPECTIONS COMPARE WITH HELICOPTER?

VizionAir specializes in imagery that a regular helicopter can not get. We fly lower, and closer to a subject than can ever be achieved by a helicopter, and correspondingly a regular helicopter can fly higher and further away.

With a regular helicopter you will have to pay for the flying time to travel to a location, and then pay for the flying time on location. Then to achieve a stable shot you will need to rent a gyro stabilized camera mount that requires fitment to the helicopter. With our multirotor technology, we have state of the art gimbal systems mounted directly to our platforms that provides the stable shot required.

WHERE DO YOU OPERATE?

Our headquarters is located in Louisville, Kentucky. All of our equipment packs down into transport cases, so we are able to operate all over the world.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE INVOLVED?

We typically operate with either two or three people, depending on a particular job requirement. The crew consists of a pilot (UAV Controller), a remote camera operator, and an engineer technician.

ARE YOU INSURED?

We carry $2M aviation liability insurance, including $2M in commercial liability insurance.
